“I had already created the longest and the tallest sand sculpture of Santa Claus and therefore, on this Christmas eve, I decided to create 100 Santa Claus on sand. The feat would be enrolled in the 2011 edition of the Limca Book of Records,” Patnaik said on Thursday evening soon after the inauguration of the exhibition.

The show was inaugurated by two children from West Bengal who were on a tour of the Orissa temple town with their parents.

“As children are the biggest fan of Santa Claus, I decided to inaugurate the show by two girl children instead of any VIP guest,” Patnaik said adding that the exhibition would be on display in the Puri beach till January 1.

Patnaik said it took nearly 36 hours to create the 105 Santa Claus structures with the help of nearly 1,000 tonnes of sands. “Twenty students from my sand art institute assisted me to achieve the feat,” he added. Lima Book of Records has already included Patnaik’s name for creating the longest and the tallest sand Santa Claus on Christmas eve in 2006 and 2008 respectively.
