Panel fails to submit stampede report

The one-member panel constituted by the Andhra Pradesh government to inquire the Godavari Pushkaram stampede failed to submit its report as its year-long term ran out.

Twenty-eight people died in the July 14, 2015, stampede, which occurred that  at the main ghat on the banks of Godavari river in Rajahmundry, soon after Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and his family took a holy dip at the river on the first day of the 12-day Pushkaram.

Main opposition YSR Congress spokesperson K Parthasarathi told the media here that the commission should have submitted its report last month. “Nothing came out of it and there is no evidence whether the chief minister was questioned on the issue,” he said.
