Justice Anil Dev Singh Committee has recently submitted to the Delhi High Court that most of the private schools have unjustly and without actual requirement increased fee and other charges and directed refund of the same with 9 per cent interest.

The committee was set up on the orders of the high court.

According to advocate Ashok Agarwal, president of All India Parents’ Association said in view of these finding of the committee, it would be advisable for all the parents not to pay the hiked fee in 2013-14 until a school gets prior approval of the hiked fee from the committee.

He said, “The parents should note that there is no law permitting schools to increase the fee every year by 10 per cent. The law is that it can be increased or decreased depending upon the requirement.”
