An inquiry commission, led by a retired judge of the Madras High Court, is expected to begin its probe into the death of J Jayalalithaa, the late Tamil Nadu chief minister, in a day or two.
The Justice Arumughaswamy-led panel, constituted by the ruling AIADMK government, will begin its probe from Jayalalithaa’s Poes Garden residence in the city to gather details of what happened on the night of September 22, 2016, when she was admitted to Apollo Hospital.
This will include examining all those present in the house that night.
However, it was not clear whether the commission will question Jayalalithaa’s close aide V K Saikala, who was present with her that night.
After gathering detailed medical reports from the hospital, Justice Arumughaswamy is expected to interact with Dr Richard Beale from London and experts from AIIMS, who had monitored Jayalalithaa’s treatment.
Justice Arumughaswamy will submit his report to the government within three months.
