Parliament Highlights | After FM's reply on Budget in Rajya Sabha, both Houses adjourned till March 10The deportation of Indians from the United States, deaths in the Maha Kumbh stampede and the joint Parliamentary committee report on the Waqf bill were among the issues that led to heated exchanges and some disruptions in an otherwise smooth first part of the Budget session that ended on Thursday. The Lok Sabha clocked 112 per cent productivity in the first part. The second part of the budget session would begin from March 10 during which the Parliamentary committees would discuss the demands for grants of various ministries. According to the agenda circulated by the Lok Sabha secretariat on Wednesday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will introduce the Income-Tax Bill, 2025 today. The Bill will replace difficult to understand terminologies as part of move to simplify language, aiming to overhaul the existing tax structure to make it more streamlined and transparent.

According to the agenda for Thursday circulated on Wednesday evening, panel chief Jagdambika Pal will table the report along with "record of evidences".

The members of the Opposition are creating an unnecessary issue, which is not a fact. The allegation is false. The JPC conducted entire proceedings as per the rules... All the Opposition members of the JPC participated in all the proceedings in the last 6 months... All the dissent notes are attached in the Appendix of the report... They cannot mislead the House..." said Rijiju

TMC MP Sushmita Dev on the JPC report over the Waqf (Amendment) Bill presented in Rajya Sabha earlier today, told PTI: “A select committee is formed so that every party’s MPs have the right to express their opinions. But what they have done is censor the dissent notes in the Waqf report they tabled. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju told PTI on the JPC report over the Waqf (Amendment) Bill presented in Rajya Sabha earlier today:

"The JPC report has been tabled in Parliament. This will come to the government and it will be considered by the Cabinet and after that, the final Waqf (Amendment) Bill will be presented in the House. The opposition is already opposing the Bill which is not good. I appeal to all the opposition parties to let the House consider this report because the JPC has done a great length of debate, discussion, and consideration."

After Opposition stages walkout from Lok Sabha following JPC report on Waqf bill is tabled in the House, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi told reporters, "One night to read the 655-page report...We had hardly any time to present our objections. If you check the minutes of the meetings, you will find that there was no clause-by-clause discussion. We have been all part of many JPCs, and clause-by-clause discussion is most important, but it was bypassed. Under whose influence is the chairman acting?
