In a severe setback to former deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav, the Patna High Court on Saturday asked the RJD leader to vacate the government accommodation allotted to him when he was Nitish’s deputy in the grand alliance government.

Soon after Nitish dumped the grand alliance and formed a new government with the help of the BJP in July 2017, the said bungalow at 5, Desh Ratna Marg was allotted to the new Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi.

However, Tejashwi refused to vacate the house on the plea that he was now Leader of the Opposition and therefore enjoyed the rank of a Cabinet Minister, which entitled him to retain the bungalow.

However, when the Bihar officials insisted on vacating it, Tejashwi moved the Patna High Court. The court heard the parties concerned. On Saturday, Justice Jyoti Sharan asked Tejashwi to vacate the government accommodation.

The high court order came at a time when Tejashwi, earlier in the day, got bail in the IRCTC scam (also known as land-for-hotel scam) in a Delhi court on Saturday.
