Odisha chief minister and ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president Naveen Patnaik on Thursday indicated that his party would throw its lot behind a third front if such a formation emerges at the Centre.

According to him, neither the Congress nor the BJP would be able to provide a stable and transparent government in New Delhi after the 2014 general elections.

“The corrupt practices of the Congress and the communal politics of the BJP have weakened the nation. Neither of them can give a stable, transparent and secular government which can fulfill the hope and aspirations of the people. Hence, there is a need for a third alternative”, Patnaik said while addressing his party men at a function organized here to mark the seventeenth birthday of the regional outfit.
