Mansingh, who met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah here, told the latter that piped gas supply would be launched at NALSAR Colony at Shamirpet on the outskirts of Hyderabad in two months. Subsequently, the distribution network would be expanded to other parts of the city, he informed the Chief Minister.

Rosaiah requested Mansingh to take up laying of trunk line between Kakinada and Kolkata so as to supply piped gas to north coastal Andhra districts like Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam. The Andhra Pradesh Gas Infrastructure Corporation would approach the PNGRB for taking up the City Gas Distribution (CGD) network in districts like East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, Warangal and Karimnagar.

Already, the CGD project has been awarded for Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Kakinada and Rajahmundry towns and the work was progressing, the Chief Minister told the PNGRB chairman.

The APGIC would soon submit bids for Ranga Reddy, Medak, Nalgonda and Khammam districts for a similar network, he said.

The Chief Minister also told the chairman that a proposal for a regional gas grid for the entire state was under preparation and the government would approach the PNGRB for bidding shortly.
