Irked by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah’s posters and banners at Patna airport, “Mahagathbandhan” (grand alliance) leaders on Wednesday approached the Election Commission (EC) to demand removal of the poll materials from there.

They said it was in complete violation of the model code of conduct and norms prescribed by the commission.

JD(U) leader K C Tyagi, Congress’ R P N Singh, RJD’s Manoj Jha and lawyer K T S Tulsi submitted a petition to the Election Commission which has expressed its “shock” over the EC not taking any action on it.

The petition complains of the presence of over a dozen banners and posters at Patna airport.

The complaint has pointed out that copies of these posters and banners have not been sent to the EC despite the mandatory provision.
