Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched a blistering attack on the Congress accusing it of undermining constitutional institutions, bullying the judiciary and insulting the Army and then targeting his government for “destroying institutions”.

Responding to the debate in the Lok Sabha on the Motion of Thanks on the President's Address, Modi countered opposition charges against his government with a blend of poetry and wordplay, with his most acerbic remarks reserved for the Congress.

“There are two periods in time as far as India is concerned -- BC and AD. BC stands for 'Before Congress', when nothing happened, and AD for 'After Dynasty', when everything happened,” he said before listing out the achievements of his government.

The prime minister said people had seen the work a government with an absolute majority and that they do not want a 'maha-milavat' (grand adulteration) government.

“They have seen the work of NDA. They do not want a 'maha-milavat' government of those who had assembled in Kolkata,” he said in perhaps his last speech in the Lok Sabha in this tenure.

“In hating Modi, the Opposition has begun to hate the nation. That is why their leaders go to London and do press conferences to show India in bad light. You know what is my crime for them? That a person born to a poor family is challenging their Sultunate,” Modi said.

Modi launched a full scale attack on the Congress and reminded them that it was Mahatma Gandhi who wanted the party to be disbanded after Independence and he was merely fulfilling his wish through the Congress-mukt Bharat campaign.

Talking tough on corruption, the prime minister said his government was working tirelessly to bring the corrupt people to book.

In response to Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge that the prime minister cannot scare the opposition, Modi said those looting the nation will have to live in fear.
