PM to lay the foundation stone for NTPC-BHEL plant

"The foundation stone of NTPC-BHEL Power Projects Private Ltd (NBPPL) will be laid down by the Prime Minister," a source told PTI. NBPPL which was formed in April, 2008 will have a capacity of 5,000 MW per annum by 2014-15 at an investment of Rs 6,000 crore.

The joint venture is coming up at Mannavaram village in Tirupati which is expected to be completed by 2015, source said. NBPPL is likely to provide direct employment to about 6,000 people.

On the occasion, Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh along with Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde will also be present, he added. The objective of setting up this JV company as per the Articles of Association of the company is to go for EPC Power Plant business and manufacturing power plant equipment for turbine generators and boilers.
