New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will return to New Delhi from Jeddah early on Wednesday, cutting short his visit to Saudi Arabia, in the wake of the terrorist attack at Pahalgam in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Modi left New Delhi for Jeddah on Tuesday for a two-day visit to Saudi Arabia.
Soon after he landed in Jeddah, the news of the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir started coming in. The prime minister spoke to Home Minister Amit Shah over the phone and asked him to travel to Kashmir.
He had meetings with Saudi Arabian Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohamed bin Salman in the evening.
Salman joined Modi in condemning the terror attacks in J&K. They witnessed the signing of four MoUs, including two for cooperation in the health and space sectors.
A source in New Delhi said that the prime minister decided to return to India earlier than scheduled, in view of the terror attacks.
