With Covid-19 vaccines set to become a reality, Rahul Gandhi on Monday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to spell out the strategy to inoculate all Indians.
Rahul, a former Congress President, fired off a set of posers to Modi on the vaccine that the government proposed to acquire.
“The PM must tell the nation: Of all the Covid vaccine candidates, which will GOI choose and why? Who will get the vaccine first and what will be the distribution strategy,” he said on Twitter as the Oxford vaccine showed promising results in human trials.
“Will PMCares fund be used to ensure free vaccination? By when will all Indians be vaccinated,” Rahul asked.
Gandhi has been critical of the PM-Cares fund, created especially for Covid-19, and has demanded transparency and accountability in its spending.
The Prime Minister had on Friday chaired a meeting to review the country’s vaccination strategy, regulatory approvals required and procurement plans for quick roll out.
A number of pharma players have conducted human trials of their Covid vaccine candidates and many have claimed over 90 per cent success. A vaccine developed by Pfizer, too, had shown encouraging results.
