"The matter has been referred to the Punjagutta police yesterday...we are in the process of filing a case," West Zone DCP Stephen Raveendra said today, adding that police were studying the court directive.
No FIR had been filed yet, he said.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's court here on April 15 directed the Punjagutta Police to investigate a private complaint by Vali-ur-Rahman, a lawyer and the General Secretary of the 'Telangana People's Forum', and file a report in the court.
The five-member committee, headed by former Supreme Court judge B N Srikrishna, submitted a report on Telangana statehood issue in January this year.
According to the complainant, the contents of the Chapter 8 of the report hurt the sentiments of Hindus and Muslims as it says that formation of Telangana state may promote enmity between two communities and lead to communal violence.
The complainant further accused that the committee members went beyond terms of reference set by the Centre. "The members also cheated the people of the Telangana region by submitting a secret report... they also provoked the people of the region."
Rahman has sought registration of a case under sections 153 A (promoting enmity between two communities), 418 (cheating), 504 and 505 (causing intentional insult resulting in disruption of public order), said his lawyer, Syed Latif.
