The colour was always white and pink for ballot papers when the Lok Sabha and Assembly polls went to polls simultaneously.

But in 1967, the Election Commission faced a crisis in Bihar with an unexpected shortage of pink paper.

This resulted in printing ballot papers in different colours for some constituencies.

A total quantity of 1,088 tonnes of paper costing about Rs 18,33,560 was purchased.
