The violation of Model Code of Conduct is one thing candidates always worry about— they also always check whether their rival has erred.

The first such code was prepared in Kerala in 1960 where the parties agreed to abide by certain ‘Dos and Dont’s’.

In 1966, the Madras Police commissioner called a meeting of parties where a code was prepared.

A similar code was accepted in Andhra Pradesh in 1967.
