President Pranab Mukherjee will preside over a two-day conference of governors on February 9 and 10 where several issues including the role of governor in the Centre-State relations, their privileges and powers are likely to figure.
Mukherjee is expected to urge the governors to follow the rule book in the backdrop of crisis like the one in Arunachal Pradesh and instances of sharp differences between the Governor and State governments of Uttar Pradesh, Tripura, West Bengal and Assam. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior Cabinet ministers will participate in the conference, which will also discuss the government’s mega schemes and flagship programmes like “Make in India,” Start up, Digital India and Swachh Abhiyan (Clean India Drive).
