The transfer of a school principal here has snowballed into a political controversy with allegations of caste-based hostility marking its latest course.

Education Minister P K Abdu Rabb was in the line of Opposition fire in the Kerala Legislative Assembly on Wednesday over the transfer of K K Urmila Devi, the principal of the Cotton Hill Girls High School.

The minister was alleged to have ordered Devi’s transfer for criticising him during a function held at the school. Rabb had arrived two hours behind schedule for the function at Cotton Hill Girls High School on June 16.

The principal, during her address, mentioned that the delay had inconvenienced the students and led school authorities to organise the function during school hours.
