Navjot Singh Sidhu's woes seem to be piling up after his recent controversial statements regarding his wife's battle with and eventual recovery from stage 4 cancer. This time it is the threat of a Rs 850 crore lawsuit. The Congress leader and former cricketer's wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu has been slapped with a Rs 850 crore notice by the Chhattisgarh Civil Society (CCS) after her husband attributed her recovery from cancer to a strict diet and disciplined lifestyle, according to a report by News18.

Not only this — the CCS has also threatened legal action against Kaur unless she provides proof of her husband's claims within seven days, and sought an apology from Sidhu.

During a press conference in Amritsar on November 21, Sidhu stated that his wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu had been declared cancer-free, emphasizing the role of dietary and lifestyle changes in her recovery.

“About 1.5 to 2 years ago, Noni (Navjot Kaur) was diagnosed with cancer,” Sidhu revealed. She fought tirelessly and followed a disciplined routine, he detailed, adding that he was happy to share that she has been declared clinically cancer-free.

Her daily regimen featured lemon water, raw turmeric, apple cider vinegar, neem leaves, and tulsi, alongside citrus fruits, pumpkin, pomegranate, amla, beetroot, and walnuts, Sidhu said. Her meals were cooked using coconut oil, cold-pressed oils, or almond oil and avoided processed foods, he added.

In April 2024, Navjot Kaur underwent a three-and-a-half-hour surgery to treat a rare metastasis. This was her second operation for breast cancer, involving skin removal and reconstruction. Sidhu also expressed gratitude to Dr Rupinder for taking care of her during the operation.

However, oncologists soon questioned Sidhu's claim that a strict diet helped his wife defeat stage 4 cancer. Following the backlash, Sidhu on November 25 clarified that the diet plan was implemented in consultation with doctors and should be considered "facilitation in the treatment".
