Q Net scam: Account of Boman Irani's son frozen

The Mumbai Police, investigating the Rs 425 crore multi-level-marketing (MLM) firm Q Net scam, has now frozen bank account of Danesh Irani son, actor Boman Irani, to ascertain the source of the deposition.

Talking to media here, the police said that apart from freezing the account, the investigators have also blocked two fixed deposits reportedly valued at Rs 25 lakh. The transaction details of the account has revealed that around Rs 40 lakh had been received from Q Net.

The allegations against Q Net first surfaced when one Gurpreet Singh Anand filed a complaint against the MLM firm for defrauding people by selling them products deemed with having curative powers as well for luring thousands of investors into alleged dubious investment schemes. 

The complainant apart from naming former snooker champion Michael Ferreira, also mentioned Danesh Irani of having alleged links with the firm. 

Though the complainant has claimed that Danesh Irani had allegedly carried Rs 18 crore worth transactions, investigators are yet to confirm the allegations. Till now the investigating agency has arrested nine key people of the firm, under Prize, Chits and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act 1978.
