Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday mocked Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for undertaking an indefinite fast to end the farmers’ crisis in the state.

A photo shared by Rahul on Twitter has Chouhan in one half, while the other portion appears to show two policemen attacking an elderly woman.

Rahul, who was denied permission to enter the state by the district administration, captioned the picture: “BJP spreading love”.

Earlier, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said, “This fast is nothing but a pretence… the Congress is with the farmers in their fight for their rights.”

Surjewala said the killing of six farmers in police firing in the state’s Mandsaur district has fuelled protests for higher minimum support prices and loan waivers in several other states.

“Chouhan’s fast is a drama… it is a sham, he should answer why a case of murder has not been filed in the death of five farmers in Madhya Pradesh,” he said.
