Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday revoked the suspension of Mani Shankar Aiyar. Aiyar was suspended from the Congress on December 7, 2017, after he made some personal remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the middle of a campaign for the Gujarat Assembly election.

AICC General Secretary Ashok Gehlot said Gandhi has approved the recommendation of the Central Disciplinary Committee of the AICC for revocation of suspension of Aiyar from the primary membership of the party with immediate effect.

Aiyar had called Modi “neech kism ka aadmi” after the prime minister had accused the Congress of systematically undermining Ambedkar’s legacy.
