Railway Minister Piyush Goyal will hold review meeting with general managers of various zones on Monday on issue of trains punctuality.
During the meeting, the minister will review the progress of the maintenance of tracks and railway assets in the zones concerned, said officials. Besides, cleanliness, quality of food served will also be discussed in the meeting.
The Railway Ministry has received number of complaints from many zones mostly from Northern India over several trains running late for the past few months. Though the minister earlier claimed that the trains were running late because of on going maintenance works, he also assured to address the issue at the earliest.
For the past two months on-time performance of Indian Railways has fallen from 80 % to 65% and the Railway Minister warned the officials to improve the punctuality without compromising the safety.
