Referring to the mass molestation that took place in Bengaluru on New Year’s Eve, lyricist Javed Akhtar said that such incidents take place due to the ‘perversion’ in men.
Akhtar made a statement in this regard during a session at the ongoing Jaipur Literature Festival.
While answering questions on westernisation, the poet-cum-screenwriter said, “We should not blame westernisation for rapes and incidents of molestation happening in our country. These incidents happen because when men from rural places come to the cities, they don’t know how to behave with a girl.”
