Rejected cities up for second round of Smart City selection

Last Updated IST

The Urban Development Ministry has asked cities that failed to make the cut in the first list of smart cities to submit their updated proposals by mid April.

Only the 23 cities that applied for the first time and could not be selected due to minor hitches will be considered for the second round called fast track competition.

The cities had issues in their proposals such as disconnect between the vision and SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis, failure to mention citizen’s aspirations in the vision document, discrepancies in strategic and implementation plans, lack of clarity and consistency in the action plan and contradictions in cost and mobilisation plans.
