Reservation in India is a "settled issue" as mandated in the Constitution, NDA ally RLSP said today, a day after RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat pitched for a review of the reservation policy, saying it has been used for political ends.

"Reservation is a settled issue in India as mandated by the Constitution. Beyond this, we have nothing to say," Rashtriya Lok Samta Party Chief General Secretary Shivraj Singh told reporters here.

He was asked to respond to the remarks of Bhagwat that as reservation has been used as a political tool, there was a need to review the reservation policy.

The RLSP is an NDA ally and is also contesting the Bihar assembly polls as part of the alliance. It has been given 23 seats.

Bhagwat's remarks came amid the continuing Patel quota stir in Gujarat. He said though "interest groups" do get formed in democracy, aspirations of one section should not be met at the cost of others.

In an interview to Sangh mouthpiece 'Organiser' and 'Panchjanya', the RSS chief had pitched for constitution of a committee with representatives from the civil society to go into the issue.
