A private member resolution by the CPI’s D Raja on a moratorium on executions narrowly missed business in Rajya Sabha on Friday, a day after Mumbai Serial blasts convict Yakub Memon was hung.
The resolution, deferred until the next session, would have sparked off debate over capital punishment, especially in the wake of the divided opinion over Memon’s hanging.
