Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy on Friday faced unprecedented rebellion from his Telangana colleagues for allegedly delaying introduction of the Telangana draft bill in both Houses of the Legislature.
Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha demanded that the Congress Legislature Party should be convened as people of Telangana had lost their faith in the chief minister.
Earlier, the deputy chief minister called Chief Secretary P K Mohanty and inquired about the delay in sending the bill to the Assembly. A senior Home Ministry official brought the draft Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill 2013 to Hyderabad in a special aircraft of the BSF on Thursday evening.
President Pranab Mukherjee has given the Assembly time till January 23 to send back the draft bill with its comments. Both Houses of the state Legislature were on Friday disrupted due to protests over the bill. Lawmakers from Telangana demanded that the bill be taken up immediately for debate. Both Houses were adjourned till Monday.
Meanwhile, the chief minister is believed to have told Seemandhra ministers and legislators that there would be voting on every clause of the bill. Reddy told mediapersons that he has sent the draft bill to the Speaker and the chairman of the state Legislative Council. He said timing of a debate over the draft bill will have to be determined by the BAC on Monday.
