According to a temple release, the income included proceeds by way of cash offerings by devotees, sale of ‘‘aravana” and “appam” prasadams (sweet delicacies).
The income during the Makaravilakku festival, which began on December 30, alone stood at Rs 35.15 crore. The rest of the amount was received during the 41-day “mandala” season that preceded “Makaravilakku”.
