During his visit to the tiger reserve on the way to Delhi, the minister also sighted a tiger in the park where he was accompanied by senior officials of the state forest department.  “I have been visiting reserves in the country since 1984, but this is for the first time that I have spotted a tiger,” he said.

Now, the reserve has five tigers relocated from Ranthambore.  “In the next two or three months, we will shift three more tigresses from Ranthambore,” he said.

The minister also raised concern that the population of the big cat was not increasing in the park despite all efforts.

“It is just not Sariska, but there are 13 out of 20 females in Ranthambore which, too, have not littered since the past five to six years. Scat samples of these tigresses have been sent to Hyderabad for a hormonal test,” he said.
