The Supreme Court on Thursday restrained the media from reporting proceedings relating to the case of Patidar leader Hardik Patel, arrested on sedition charges.

The court, hearing arguments that some guidelines were to be passed on damages to be recovered for destruction to properties from agitators, passed its order after senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for Hardik, alluded to the controversy surrounding JNU and the media’s role. “At the commencement, we required the media not to report the proceedings of this case, which are sensitive in nature. We are recording the same in our order ,” a bench of Justices J S Khehar and C Nagappan said.
