The Supreme Court on Monday issued notice to the Centre on a petition filed by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) seeking direction to dissolve the Delhi Assembly which has been kept under suspended animation after the resignation of Arvind Kejriwal as chief minister.

A bench of justices R M Lodha and Dipak Misra also sought the Union government’s response on a petition filed jointly by Kejriwal’s colleague and then transport minister Saurabh Bhardwaj, challenging the decision to impose President’s Rule in Delhi on February 16.

The court, however, refused to seek reply from political parties which were arrayed as party in the petition.
