The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to take up on an urgent basis a plea seeking the quashing of the National Judicial Appointments Commission (NJAC) Act, which ended the two-decade-old collegium system of appointing judges.
A three-judge bench presided over by Chief Justice H L Dattu told senior advocate Bhim Singh that there was no urgency in the matter and that it would be taken up in due course.
Singh urged the court to hear his petition filed on Monday, challenging the legality and constitutional validity of the NJAC Act, 2014, and the Constitution (121st Amendment) Bill, 2014.
