Securitymen exchange fire with Maoists in Jharkhand

The police and CRPF were on long-range patrol in the Gurabandha jungle, a Maoist-affected area, when they came upon the camp at which the ultras opened fire, police sources said.

The CRPF and police returned the fire leading to a 15 minute exchange, the sources said.

There was no casualty.

The Maoists fled leaving behind utensils, half-cooked food, uniforms and a revolver, the sources said.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Akhilesh Kumar Jha, who rushed to the spot immediately, confirmed the incident.
