The Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday urged the Centre to constitute the Cauvery Management Board (CMB) and the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee (CWRC) without delay.

Delivering his address in the State Assembly, Governor K Rosaiah said "this Government urges the Central Government to constitute the Cauvery Management Board and the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee without any delay for the effective implementation of the Final Order of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal''.

In addition, he said that the State has also initiated action to restore the water level to the full reservoir level of 152 feet in Mullaperiyar Dam in Kerala.

He also reiterated the state’s appeal to interlink the peninsular rivers --the rivers from Mahanadhi-Godavari-Krishna-Pennar-Palar-Cauvery-Vaigai and then on to Gundar.

The Government also insist that the Pamba-Achankovil-Vaippar link, for which a feasibility study has already been done by the National Water Development Agency (NWDA), must be expedited.
