Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi has written to the Home Ministry saying sexual offenders should be under watch after their release from prison.

The minister’s letter came ahead of the release of juvenile convict involved in the Delhi gang-rape case.

The convict will complete on December 16 his three-year term in the shelter home and is likely to be released few days before the term ends because of security reasons.

“You know the issue is not of that particular individual. The point is that I have written to the Home Ministry saying that there should be a tweaking of the law in which every person accused of sexual abuse, who has served a time and has come out should have to report to the police station and he should be monitored,” said Gandhi.
