Soldier injured in militant attack

An army soldier was injured in a militant attack in the volatile Tral area of south Kashmir's Pulwama district on Tuesday.

Sources said militants opened fire on a patrol party of the army's 42 Rashtriya Rifles at Seer Jageer, Tral, 35 kms from here.

The fire was retaliated ensuing a brief exchange of gunfire, they said, adding that the militants later fled from the spot.

In the incident, an army soldier suffered bullet wounds, who was shifted to military hospital for treatment.

Soon after the attack, reinforcements reached the spot and cordoned off the area to trace out the assailants, reports said.

Deputy Inspector General of police (DIG) south Kashmir Amit Kumar confirmed that the solider was injured in the attack.
