Spectrum bids reach Rs 54,600 cr

With aggressive bidding for 2G spectrum by telecom companies in the ongoing auction, the government received bids worth Rs 54,600 crore after the fifth day on Friday.

“The total value of the bids was Rs 54,600 crore after 35 rounds of bidding. Activity is on in eight service areas. Bidding will continue on Saturday,” Telecom Secretary M F Farooqui told reporters.

The bids for the premium 900 Mhz band in Delhi have now appreciated over 90 per cent to Rs 684.68 crore per MHz, from a base price of Rs 360 crore. 

The Mumbai rate was up by 71.67 per cent to Rs 563.09 crore, from the base rate of Rs 328 crore. In Kolkata it was up 55.70 per cent to Rs 194.63 crore.
