Kashmir continues to reel under intense cold, with Srinagar recording the coldest November night in a decade on Friday.
A Met department official said Srinagar witnessed a freezing minus 3.3 degrees Celsius, almost a degree down from the previous night's minus 2.5 degrees.
It was the lowest night temperature in the past 10 years in November in Srinagar, he said. The city had recorded minus 4.8 degrees Celsius on 28 November, 2007.
The ski resort of Gulmarg, a star attraction for tourists visiting the Valley during winter, recorded a minimum temperature of minus 6 degrees Celsius as against the last night's minus 5.4 degrees, the official said.
The minimum temperature in Pahalgam, a tourist resort in south Kashmir, settled at a low of minus 5.4 degrees Celsius compared to the previous night's minus 5.7 degrees.
The mercury in Leh town of the frontier Ladakh region, settled at a bone chilling minus 13.2 degrees Celsius, against the previous night's low of minus 13.5 degrees, he said. The neighbouring Kargil town registered a low of minus 9 degrees Celsius, same as the previous night.
The official said weather would remain mainly dry in the coming 24 hours due to which there will be a further dip in the mercury making the conditions in the state colder.
