Apparently under depression, a woman software engineer allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at a lodge in Lakdi-ka-Pul area here, police said today.

The body of K Pallavi (26), a native of Hayath Nagar in neighbouring Ranga Reddy district, was found hanging inside the lodge room this morning, they said.

"She came to the lodge yesterday morning from Bangalore. However, she did not come out of her room since yesterday. Lodge authorities grew suspicious after she did not open her door despite repeated knocks and informed the police, who in turn got the door opened and found her hanging," an investigating officer told PTI.

Saifabad Police called up her parents and based on preliminary investigation it appeared that Pallavi resorted to the extreme step as she was reportedly under depression after her parents objected to her going back to United States where she had completed her MS.
A case has been registered in this regard while the further probes are on, police added.
