A week after Maoists ambushed a security party killing 11 personnel in Lohardaga, Kumar reviewed security-related matters with the SPs of Latehar, Palamau and Garhwa.

Advocating further strengthening of intelligence on Naxal movements, he said feedback to the CRPF should be "immediate" and "correct".

He stressed on thorough knowledge of local geography and hilly topography to take on the ultras, adding that the role of local police stations was important in this regard.
Kumar said vigilance should be "stepped up" in the hilly terrains with kutcha roads to discover hidden landmines and avoid a repeat of the Lohardaga ambush.
