The contentious bill to create Telangana could not be introduced in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday because of the ongoing political negotiation between the Congress and the BJP, though an official of the Upper House was heckled by a section of agitating MPs.

The Upper House could not function in the first half as TPD MP C M Ramesh along with his party colleague Y S Chowdary and Gundu Sudharani, were protesting against the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. They were joined by the Congress’ K V P Ramachandra Rao and SP members, who wanted to raise the issue of the bill’s passage in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.

“It was murder of democracy,” said SP member Naresh Agarwal, referring to the Lok Sabha proceedings on Telangana.
