Actor Gurucharan Singh, well known for the role of Roshan Singh Sodhi in the TV show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC), has been hospitalised and his condition seems to be critical, as mentioned by one of his friends Bhakti Soni in an interview with Vickey Lalwani.

Concerned over Singh's health condition, Bhakti said that the actor’s health is deteriorating as he has not been eating and drinking anything for 19 days now.

“He hasn’t eaten food or drunk water for 19 days. Because of that, he fell unconscious and was quickly rushed to the hospital,” Bakti said in the interview.

Last year, Gurucharan Singh had made headlines for his over a month-long disappearance in the Month of April, and thereby returning back to Mumbai in the month of July. At that time he also shared about his personal struggles, and said that he was burdened with a debt of Rs 1.2 crore, and also mentioned that over the past months, he had been looking for work in the city.

Regarding his disappearance and eventual return, Bhakti said,” When Gurucharan came back, he tried getting work, but he didn’t get anything. He wanted to take ‘sanyas’ in the Himalayas. However, upon visiting the Golden Temple, he suddenly realised that he should come back, as he considered that the almighty wanted him to do so.”

Gurucharan was thus headstrong and did not run away from life as he intended to take care of his parents and also pay back all his loans.

Soni, in the interview, said that it has been five years now since Gurucharan has had a job, and he is also under a lot of financial stress. She also mentioned that she herself has helped him with finances many times

Bhakti further added that when she had her last call with him, he told her that he would get to know by January 13-14 whether he would continue to live.

She said that currently Gurucharan is in Delhi, living with his parents, and she is only in touch with his mother as he does not wish to speak to anyone at this moment. Soni said that his mother too was extremely tense about his current health condition as he would not listen to anyone and continued to not eat or drink anything, thus making his condition worse.

She also spoke about the fact that his father owns eight shops worth Rs 55 crore, and if they are sold, the Rs 1.2 crore amount would mean very insignificant. However, the tenants of the shops are reluctant to vacate them and his family is currently fighting a legal case.

On January 7, Gurucharan posted a video on Instagram from his hospital bed, stating he was feeling very unwell. He however, did not mention the reason for his sickness.

His post read, “On the occasion of Gurpurab, Guru Sahib Ji blessed me with a new life. Infinite and unlimited thanks to Guru Sahib Ji. I also express heartfelt gratitude and respect to all of you, because of Guru Sahib Ji’s grace, I am alive and standing before you today. Thank you to everyone. Rab Rakha and may Waheguru continue to shower His blessings," he wrote in the caption of his post.
