Chennai: Contending that the DMK dispensation was taking all observations by the Madras High Court “very seriously”, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Saturday said the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to probe the stampede that killed 41 people in actor-politician Vijay’s rally in Karur will bring out the “whole truth.”

“The Special Investigation Team (SIT) set up on the orders of the Hon'ble High Court will begin its investigation. Through this, I assure the people as the Chief Minister of the state that we will bring out the whole truth. Accountability will be ensured at all levels,” Stalin said in a statement.

Stalin said the government will formulate a complete 'Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)' in consultation with everyone from sector experts, political parties, activists and the public across the state.

“This will become a model that can be followed not only by Tamil Nadu but also by the entire India,” he said, adding that in the wake of this irreparable tragedy, the state should move towards a long-term solution without blaming each other for political reasons.

“I welcome everyone's ideas and suggestions in this joint effort. Every life is precious. Let us unite to save the lives of our people and prevent such a tragedy from happening again, not only in Tamil Nadu, but anywhere in India,” the CM added.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has undertaken an assessment of threat perception to Vijay and is believed to have recommended enhancing security cover from the current Y category to the actor.
