B Jena, sub-divisional police officer of Pallahara sub-division said, the three teachers, Pabitra Sethi, Debraj Behera and Jenamani Pradhan, were arrested following preliminary investigations. “All the three will be chargesheeted after a detailed investigation,” Jena added.

Four students of the upper primary school, aged between 10 and 12, had sustained serious injuries when the hand-made bomb went off last Saturday. The incident occurred when the students were arranging the headmaster’s room.

Intially, the police detained four teachers of the school, including a lady teacher. While the three male teachers were later arrested on the basis of preliminary investigation, the lady teacher was let off.

The police suspect that the arrested teachers had some differences with the headmaster and that could have prompted them to plant the bomb. “A detailed investigation into the incident is currently on,” police said.

The local people, in the meantime, have threatened to launch an agitation demanding adequate compensation from the government for the family members of the injured students.
