The Shiv Sena on Friday formally joined the BJP-led government in Maharashtra, ushering in political stability.
Ten Shiv Sena members and an equal number of BJP members were sworn-in as Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis undertook the first expansion of his council of ministers taking the strength from 10 to 30.
After the Nagpur winter session of the Maharashtra legislature, another round of expansion will take place where two Sena members will be accommodated in the ministry and from four other allies–Ramdas Athawale-led Republican Party of India, Mahadev Jankar-led Rashtriya Samaj Paksha, Vinayak Mete-led Shiv Sangram and Raju Shetti-led Swabhimani Shetkari Sangathana
On October 31, a 10-member ministry of the BJP was sworn-in, which included eight cabinet ministers and two ministers of state (MoS). On Friday, 20 ministers–10 each from the Sena and BJP were sworn-in. These include five cabinet and five MoS from both the sides.
