Gold jewellery and cash valued at Rs 2.5 lakh were found missing from former finance minister P Chidambaram's residence in Chennai.

After the complaint was filed on Saturday, the family approached the police on Sunday seeking to withdraw the complaint.

The complaint was filed by Murali, manager of Chidambaram’s wife Nalini, said valuables, including some diamonds and gem-studded ancestral ornaments, were found missing on Saturday evening.

However, the family approached the police on Sunday seeking to withdraw the complaint as it is understood that people working in their house have promised to return the valuables.

Police said there was no way outsiders could have entered the house of the former minister because there is always police personnel guarding the house.
