A viral video of two drunk Tihar officials exchanging blows with each other in public has left the Tihar administration red faced inviting punitive action from the authorities in the form of suspension of the duo.

In the video, captured on Monday night, the two officials were seen sitting on the front seat of the Maruti car and throwing punches at each other in a seemingly crowded area somewhere in west Delhi’s Janakpuri.

With their bloodied faces and dress the duo were drawing condemnation and scorn from the onlookers, somebody in the crowd also captured a video clip of the incident on a mobile phone. In the one-minute long video clip, a Tihar jail sticker could be seen plastered on the vehicle’s windshield which gave away the identity of the two, drawing ridicule from the passerby.

According to jail officials, the duo identified as head warder Anil Upreti and warder Digambar, had left the jail premises for their houses in a car. Midway, after getting drunk somewhere in Janakpuri, they started arguing with each other over some issue. “Digambar then stopped the car somewhere, and their argument turned violent. They punched each other and after that they left from the place,’’ said a police officer.
