Saroj Kumar Pati, Additional District and Sessions Judge of Kochinda in Sambalpur district, ordered the capital punishment to Rajesh Hembram, a tribal who had brutally murdered his seven-year-old granddaughter to use her blood in his agricultural field for better harvest.
The incident took place on April 26 last year in the tribal-dominated Adapathar village of the district. After his arrest, Hembram had confessed before the police that he had beheaded his granddaughter with an axe and collected her blood in a bowl to pour it in the field along with seeds.
