A lawyer of Calcutta High Court has lodged a complaint against BJP leader Tathagata Roy citing a tweet where the veteran urged the party to come out of the racket of "women and money".
The complainant has urged Kolkata Police to interrogate the accused to find out whether there was any dealing of money and women in the recently concluded Assembly polls.
On Monday, the former Governor of Meghalaya and Tripura, resting his faith on the new state BJP President Sukanta Majumdar and Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari tweeted: "The party must be pulled out of the money and women's circle. In this way, the party will go backward and not forward." (IANS)
TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Monday claimed that the ruling BJP in Tripura was trying to "throttle" the voice of its opposition leaders as the party has no regard for democratic values.
Addressing a press conference, the senior TMC leader asserted that the TMC will defeat the BJP and put an end to the saffron camp's "misrule" in the next assembly elections. "The BJP in Tripura is making a mockery of democracy. Now that we have entered the state, we will ensure BJP's defeat. The reasons shown by the police to cancel my rally proves that there exists no rule of law in the state," he told a press conference. (PTI)
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday said she will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi during her visit to Delhi, and raise issues concerning the enhancement of BSF jurisdiction as well as the ongoing "atrocities" in Tripura.
Banerjee also said she may not join the dharna being staged by TMC MPs in the national capital to protest against "attack on party workers" in Tripura and arrest of youth leader Saayoni Ghosh, but will surely express solidarity with them.
The TMC supremo's comment drew a sharp retort from the BJP which urged her to stop post-poll violence in West Bengal. (PTI)
